Borja Abellan of
Tada Studio's Antarctic Observatory is a project which purpose is to control Antarctic Icebergs.
Interaction with environment plays a central role in this project. This parametric building, first, is half-buried with a translucent facade in response to the 6 months of daylight.
Thanks to the form, which appears to be central in his design proposal, the observatory generates snow for thermal insulation and water supplies.
Taking advantage of advanced technologies, the building is calculated to adapt to its environment. The camcorders and association of RGB colour (for R= Temperature, G = Wind, B = Humidity) of LED's and the weather allow the building to copy the Boreal Aurora.
Interior space is covered with Corian and LEDs which are controlled by an Arduino board and by computer. The function of LEDs provides an illumination of the observatory.
